Spring Beekeeping & Gardening

Saturday, April 2 | 10:00–4:00 p.m.

Spring is a busy time for bees and beekeepers alike, and today you’ll learn about what makes a healthy hive. Meet our honeybees, peek inside their hive, and find out what they do for us around the farm and in the gardens.

At 11:00, weather permitting, Howell Farm beekeeper Johanna Swartzentruber will open the hives and check the health of the colony by looking at the bees and their work on the comb. A 45-minute presentation about “Life in a Honeybee Colony” will begin at 2:00.

**Please note that all 2022 Saturday programs will be modified to encourage social distancing and reflect current State guidelines for public events. Visitors are asked to carry masks at all times, and wear them when social distancing isn't possible. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to see you soon!
