Plowing Match 2010
2010 Date: September 4

Pat Hlubik of New Egypt, New Jersey competes in the 2010 plowing match in the fine plowing class.

Pat went on to win first place in the place demonstrating the many elements involved in top notch plowing.

No plowman can be successful without a top notch team and Pat's team Belgians of Emma, Caroline, and Annie did an outstanding job for him.

Phil Andres of Historic Longstreet Farm in Monmouth County, New Jersey took second place in the fine plowing class with mules Ruthie and Gertrude.

Rob Kibbe with Belgians Calvin and Hobbes came down from Fosterfields Historic Farm in Morris County, New Jersey and competed in the fine plowing class.

Chris Brown from Mickleton, New Jersey took fifth place in the fine plowing class with his Belgians Bob and Bim.

Greg Siefert from Quakertown, Pennsylvania competed in the fine plowing class with his Belgians Waylon and Willie.

In the afternoon the contestants competed in the obstacle course driving event. In this photo Aaron Vastine of Millville, Pennsylvania finishes the course with his Clydesdales Lady and Duke. Aaron took second place in the event.

Come and join us for the 2011 plowing match. If you have never plowed before you can enter the novice class competition and have the opportunity to learn about plowing and then give it a try behind one of the Howell Farm teams with a Howell Farm farmer driving the horses. This is one of the most colorful events at Howell Farm and visitors have the opportunity to see a number of fine teams of Belgians, Percherons, andClydesdales as well as mules and oxen.
